Texas Scramble Rules .....

1 Texas Scramble Format
Each team shall consist of 3 or 4 players playing in the SAME team. All members of the team shall hit one tee shot on every hole. The team then selects one tee shot and continues play from that point. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.
2 Number of Tee Shots Requirement
In a team of FOUR MEMBERS, each player’s tee shot must be used at least FOUR times during the 18 holes competition. In a team of THREE MEMBERS, each player’s tee shot must be used at least FIVE times during the 18 holes competition. Tee Shots selected to represent the team for Novelty Prize contention MUST be used. Men tee off from the YELLOW tees and women from the RED tees. 3 Where to Play From: Shots From OTHER THAN the Putting Green. Ball to be PLACED
Each team member must play his/her shot from within one club length of the selected shot (Except when on the putting green). It is not necessary for the player with the chosen tee shot to play first. Any team member can play first. However, the ball may not be placed closer to the hole. In addition, if the selected tee shot was in the fairway, each member must place his/ her ball in the fairway to play the next shot. Likewise, if the selected tee shot was in the rough, bunker, water hazard, fringe, etc., each member of the team must place the ball in, and play from, respectively, the rough, bunker, water hazard, fringe. etc. In every instance each team member may place the ball. Team members may rake bunkers between shots. All players may lift and clean the ball. 4 Where to Play From: Shots On the Putting Green. Ball to be PLACED Once the team’s balls have reached the putting green, the selected ball should be marked and another spot should be marked approximately 6 inches to the side, not nearer to the hole. This will allow the team to mark the ball so that all players can putt from the same spot without being disturbed by the ball marker. Once a ball is holed out, play is completed for that hole. Therefore, it is recommended that the remaining players do not putt out, but if a player putts and misses and then inadvertently knocks the ball into the hole, then that score counts. On the green, team members are allowed to position themselves on or close to an extension of the line of play or the line of putt behind the ball 5 Handicap Requirements A limit of 36 strokes (Men) and 36 strokes (Ladies) applies ... this limit is applied before Handicap Allowance has been calculated. Not Handicap Qualifier. It is important that the Competition Organizer balance all teams up fairly so has to avoid loading teams with low handicap players. So each team MUST consist of at least THREE or FOUR golfers who’s EGA Playing Handicaps total MUST be at least 38 or 48 respectively. There is no maximum limit to each team’s Playing Handicaps totals. 6 How to Determine Team Handicap and NETT Score Handicap Allowance is 1/10 of combined Handicaps (4 Player Teams) or 1/6 of combined Handicaps (3 Player Teams). Handicap Allowances will be calculated to one decimal place. Example: 3 members Team aggregate handicaps of 38 is divided by 12 = 3.2 members Team aggregate handicaps of 48 is divided by 10 = 4.8 Team Gross score = 68 Team Net Score = 63.2 RULES: Please note that the Texas Scramble Golf format is not recognized as a form of play by the R&A (Fun Competition) and thus is not covered by the Rules of Golf. Therefore, it is a matter for the Committee in charge of the competition to decide upon any rules interpretations matters that may arise and they will be handled and resolved by the Tournament Competition Committee and there decision shall be final (Rule 34-3)
